Welcome Home, Peter!

Praise to the Lord Most High! Our prayers have been answered. My cousin, Peter returned home from Iraq safely this weekend! Welcome Home, Welcome Home!

Windsor

So Saturday morning I set off to Windsor to meet Kyle and of course wouldn't you know...there is two train stations in Windsor...Kyle was at one and I at the other. So after wasting 30 minutes of waiting....I was a brave little one and walked over to the other train station and PRAISE THE LORD! Kyle was standing right there!

Windsor is a beautiful little town, with great shopping girls! The castle is gorgeous and I completely understand why Her Majesty enjoys this residence so much. But I appreciate her not being there on Saturday...so we could actually get inside!

So a little bit of history for you, Windsor Castle is over 900 years old and it is also home to the oldest order of chilvary, the Order of the Garter. There is a whole ball room in the castle dedicated to the Order of the Garter. They are installed at St. George's Cathedral located on the grounds of Windsor Castle. St. George's is also where Her Majesty's parents are buried and Henry VIII.

But I did get to see my favorite people...even though they were a little scary carrying around those big guns.

don't worry...I got one to hang on my Christmas tree that looks a lot nicer! And just for my honey...the best burger in Britain!! because you know Matt tried every burger in London!

Cold and Rainy

So England is doing its thing....its cold and rainy and suppose to continue through Monday. so I am hanging out in the apartment catching up on emails and rest before the madness of work starts on Monday. It's St. George's weekend here which is like St. Patty's day to the Irish! Lots of fun going on at the pubs!

Matt has headed home so please pray for his safe travels. So no funny posts today...but here is a link to our website where we are uploading all of our pictures. When you get a moment or are bored at work take a look. I didn't edit any of them so excuse all the bad ones.

Another day...another country

Thursday brought us another day, another train and another country....Paris, France. The day started early. We left our hotel at 4:45 a.m. Thursday morning (11:45 p.m. eastern time, Wednesday) so while you were all going to bed we were getting up. Plus the fact that Paris is an hour ahead of London we were all screwed up. The train ride was really cool since we got to go in the chunnel and pass through the English and French countryside at just over 200 MPH. When we got to Paris we jumped on the bus and stopped by the Arc de Triomphe which doubles as a wind tunnel. Trust us we saw it first hand.
Then we headed over to the Eiffel Tower or as it should be know as....an erector set on steroids.
We climbed to the second level to take a few shots around the city including this shot of the Les Invalides (gold dome) which is the burial site of Napoleon.
While there we met these nice doctors who were performing a colonoscopy examine on the tower.
It was really windy under there.....not sure where it was coming from though.

After watching the procedure we ventured over to Notre Dame Cathedral where we discovered the Georgia Tech seems to always be out in front of Notre Dame.

We also discovered the Hunchback of Notre Dame roaming around outside. No comments from the peanut gallery.

Then onto the Louvre so that Matthew could get his culture for his lifetime. It has also been determined that you could play a game of hide and go seek here with 100 people and nobody would have been found. So if you are it you are staying IT.

You thought the Mona Lisa was a painting of an unknown woman....well she was IT and never could find anyone so they painted her to show what the loser looks like.
The Venus de Milo was also someone who was IT as well but since she couldn't tag anyone she stayed IT for awhile.
Someone really needs to tell her to put a top on and get a tan. Maybe that is why she could never find anyone.

We arrived back in London around 10 p.m. London time (5 p.m. Eastern time) and went straight to bed. Yes we are old people who go to sleep at 5 p.m. but isn't 5 p.m. somewhere in the world all the time.

Well Friday we are headed to Tiffanie's home for the next two months.....Reading, England. We may have a few shots of her new crib. Then Saturday Matthew is headed back to the States.

Rock and Roll with Salisbury Steak

Today we spent the day in Salisbury, England.....HOME of STONEHENGE and Salisbury Steak (well maybe not). First we had to take a train through the English countryside.

In addition to the home of Stonehenge and a wonderful steak, Salisbury, England was the location for military training for D-Day and the landing on Normandy. It also has the second longest landing strip in the United Kingdom behind London Heathrow.
Also we discovered that the creators of Stonehenge had some good taste. Look at the bag we dug up there...

Little did we know that Stonehenge was surrounded by a rabid beastly animal.....they are baaaaaaaaad!

Salisbury was also one of the few cities that was not bombed during the air raids during WWII because the cathedral in town was one of the tallest in England and was used as a marker for bombers to find a route to England.

Thursday we are off to Paris!

The Queen's Crib, funny hats and keeping an "Eye" on London

Well the morning started out with us picking up our rental car and heading over to the Queen's crib. She was jealous that we went and saw the "King" when we got here and didn't let her know we had arrived. Once we arrived at the Queen's house her guards let us in the house for some tea.
Any one feel like the Wizard of Oz?...."Oh wee oh, oh hum, oh wee oh, oh hum"The people came to see us as they gathered round our rental car with excitement and adoration.
Even the animals of the land gathered round to see us.....
They were so excited that they could not contain themselves....
Matt Davis can tell you what that is above if you are curious.

We also caught a glimpse of Super Girl on her way to save someone but she had to change into her disguise.
It was great because when she flew away we hitched a ride to get some better shots of the city.
She was tired so she dropped us off at the London Eye.
And rode in what looked like a glass pill. But really it was a miniature microwave oven because it was HOT in there. I think this is where the Easy Bake Oven came from.
Well we are off to Stonehenge tomorrow in Salisbury.

Westminster Abbey, dinosaurs and some more sites

Well Monday we visited Westminster Abbey. They call this place a church but it is more like a graveyard inside. It is the traditional corination place for Kings and Queens of England since William the Conqueror in 1066. Some of the more notiable people burried here are Elizabeth I, Mary I a.k.a "Bloody Mary", Mary Queen of Scots, Henry VII along with Sir Issac Newton and Charles Darwin. Like I said don't still here to long or you might have a coffin throw around you. Unfortunately again no pictures are allowed inside.

After leaving Westminster Abbey we decided to hit up the London version of Times Square, Piccadilly Circus. They also have a good buffet in america but I would not say it is a circus.
After walking around a while we hit up the Natural History Museum where we found some new pets to bring home with us.
BIG MAMMA was not happy that they were coming with us!

More rain today so we had to dodge in and out of the rain. We didn't have time today to ride the London eye but we did get some a shot of it right after the rain.
